Proposal
On October 12th, Andrew flew to Taipei. She accepted, and they spent the rest of the evening celebrating, taking pictures and telling friends & family.That night, while having dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel across from Taipei 101, Andrew proposed to Bethany.

Bethany Ford
Bethany has a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Education specializing in Primary/Junior from the University of Western Ontario- where Andrew and Bethany first met. Bethany completed a Teaching English as a Second Language course in Victoria B.C and has been teaching in Taipei, Taiwan since August 24th, 2014.
After almost dying in a cyclone in Bangcock and experincing Red Square in Russia, Andrew and Bethany went back to work until Andrew was able to return to Taiwan! During his stay, we were able to have Christmas together and travel to Hong Kong for the weekend, which was a magical experience!
Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Western Ontario in 2011. He then moved on to the Univsersity of Victoria, where he completed his Master of Arts in Linguistics in 2013. Andrew has been working on his Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics degree at the University of Ottawa since September 2013.
In February, during Chinese New Year, Bethany flew home to Ottawa to spend unforgettable time with her family. During the vacation time, Bethany went to class with Andrew at The University of Ottawa. This trip home, advice from Andrew and their parents, inspired Bethany to apply to the Linguistics program at Ottawa, where she successfully was accepted. Bethany, Andrew and their kitten Lësha will be living together in Ottawa come September, where Bethany will be working her way towards her Masters in Linguistics and Andrew will continue working on his PhD in Linguistics!
As much of our relationship has been a long distance relationship, this has only made the love for each other stronger, our conversations thearaputic, and the time we do get together very precious and valuable.
We need to thank God for influencing our choices, our values and our morals, which have brought us together for this exciting journey of life. As Andrew and I have waited to move in together, we couldn't be more excited to start off our life together in an apartment close to the university. As our friends and family, we need to thank you for being here to support us, not just on this very important day, but constantly throughout our daily lives. We can't wait to spend the day with all of you August 24th, 2014 for a day of laughs and love. God Bless!
A few days after their proposal, Andrew and Bethany travelled to Moscow, Russia, because Andrew was giving a presentation at the International Conference on the Typology of Morphosyntactic Parameters. Andrew, delivered his presentation on October 17th- his first international conference presentation in his academic career.
